Dr. MJ Okumu is a seasoned Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over twelve years leading MJ Okumu Associates Advocates before co-founding Okumu, Miyawa & Wamwara Advocates LLP. He is an expert in devolution law, with a strong focus on public participation, governance, and constitutional matters.

His career spans work in conveyancing, debt recoveries, insurance claims, and complex commercial litigation. Dr. Okumu has taught law at Kenyatta University and Mount Kenya University, blending academic excellence with practical expertise. He remains committed to client-centered service and shaping participatory governance frameworks that promote justice, fairness, and sustainable development.

Dr. Miyawa Maxwel is the Managing Partner of Okumu, Miyawa & Wamwara Advocates LLP. A renowned scholar and practitioner, he specializes in law and development, corporate governance, and regulation.

Holding a PhD in International Development Law from Osgoode Hall, he has combined academia with practice, teaching at Egerton University, Kenya School of Law, and as a research associate at York University, Toronto. Dr. Miyawa has led consultancies for the African Union, Pan-African Lawyers Union, and Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law. His litigation record includes constitutional, human rights, and public law matters. He emphasizes accountability, democracy, and sustainable governance.
